Volkswagen

Volkswagen translated to English signifies ‘the people’s car’. The concept that every person should be able to afford private transport was first introduced by the German at the inception of the Second World War. With only 1 in 50 Germans owning a car I the early 30’s, the automobile market was reserved to luxury and wealth. This would soon change as more manufacturers started seeing the opportunity of selling vehicles in high volume to vast majorities of the population.
The result of the race for the perfect ‘peoples car’ eventually gave way to one of the most iconic brands and models in motor vehicle history: The Volkswagen Beetle. Designed by Ferdinand Porsche and his dedicated team between 1934 and 1938, the Volkswagen beetle had the mission of being able to carry two adults and three children at a speed of 100 km/h across Germany’s new road system.
Today, Volkswagen continues making cars for the people of all different shapes and sizes. Small hatches and coupes for the city-dwellers, compact SUVs and family cars as well as bigger more rugged SUVs for those who need all-terrain access. With Elite you can drive the most updated versions of these classic icons such as the new VW Golf GTi and Polo.
