About BMW
BMW, Bavarian Motor Works, is one of the great German auto and motorcycle makers. Initially, BMW was a contender in the aviation industry. 1923 Versailles Treaty forced BMW to quit producing aircraft engines and start producing motorcycles. A few years later, in 1929, BMW started the production of motorcars.
The German automaker is also known for its impressive history of building high-end performance machines. Specifically, BMW’s are recognized the world around for producing driver’s cars.
Today, BMW stays on the forefront of driving technology, not only for performance but also in terms of efficiency. Recently, BMW opened its own ‘eco’ division called the ‘I’ division. This division is tasked with coming up with efficient solutions to limiting fuel consumption in modern vehicles. BMWs can now be categorized in three ways… Standard models, M-Models and I-Models. The standard models are suitable for everyday driving with added benefit of BMW’s engineering experience.
BMW’s M division is renowned for taking seemingly tame sedans like the 5-Series and turning them into fire-breathing road monsters. The M-Cars are basically in-house tuned versions of standard models. Example: when the 4 series coupe receives the M treatment, it becomes the M4. The difference between an M car and its standard version is noted by the more aggressive bumpers, badges and overall stance. The real difference however, lies within the hood of the car, the engine. Each M car is fitted with a powerful engine. They also provide sportier suspensions as well as some much needed exhaust improvements.
On the other hand we have ‘I’ division cars. These cars are just as outlandish as the M cars but for a different reason. The ‘I’ division is BMW’s ‘eco’ branch and has one objective to build towards a future of emission-free cars.
Quick Tips
Does a BMW need to be an M car to enjoy it? Simply, no. While M cars are hardcore versions of standard BMW models, they are not the only models to provide driving pleasure. BMW’s smaller models such as the 3-series, 1-series and 2-series have good driving dynamics too. All BMWs have an inherently sportier character than other German cars. So, whether in an M car or in a standard model, you are likely to discover BMWs superior engineering.
Which BMWs does Elite rent out? Most, from the 1 series to the 7 series. This also includes SUV models like the X5 and X7 without forgetting about the M-cars, such as the M4.
