About Tesla

Tesla Motors is an American car manufacturer and one of the most recent to start selling mass-produced vehicles worldwide. The name of the company is rooted in the history of science and inspired by the defunct inventor and creator Nikolai Tesla. What separates Tesla Motors from competitors is the fact that tesla’s entire product range is fully electric. The electric motors used in their vehicles do not produce any greenhouse gasses. Nevertheless, they provide both range and usability with the big added benefit of producing zero emissions.

The range of Tesla car models started in 2009 with the development of a low-volume sports car, the Roadster. Then followed the Model S, the first sedan the US-based manufacturer produced, in 2012. It proved the viability of electric vehicles once and for all are. In 2016, Tesla introduced the Model X, a full-size electric SUV. Soon after, the American brand released a smaller sedan, the Model 3. Most recently, however, Tesla debuted the Model Y, a small SUV designed to compete in the crossover segment.

In 2003, American engineers Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning founded Tesla. Only in 2004 would Elon Musk join the board as chairman. Musk then replaced Eberhard as acting CEO for the company in 2007.

Since 2019, Tesla provides a Dog Mode in their cars. This feature allows drivers to set an ambient temperature in the car for their dogs while they are away.
