Even though the town was almost totally bombed between 1943 and 1944, Saint Laurent du Var kept a remarkable monument – the 12th century Romanesque church, typical of Provence. It houses a precious relic, a fragment of St Benedict’s, who was the founder of the Benedictine order. Around the church there is part of a medieval quarter with narrow, quiet streets and beautiful houses.
