About Amalfi

What to do in Amalfi
Start your journey from The Cathedral of Amalfi. It is the embodiment of the former power and glory of the city. Here you will find the relics of the Apostle Andrew. Pilgrims from all over the world seek to come to Amalfi to visit this shrine. Then, make your way to the Museo Diocesano di Amalfi. In the museum you can admire wall paintings and frescoes dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries, valuable paintings, sculptures and bas-reliefs. Visit the Paradise Courtyard (Chiostro del Paradiso) – a square courtyard in the Arab-Norman style with arches and sarcophagi along its walls. In the Middle Ages, it served as a cemetery for the local aristocracy.
We recommend taking a pleasant and easy walk to one of the landmarks of Amalfi: the walls of the Dukedom of Amalfi and the Torre dello Ziro, one of the many towers dotted along the coastline which were used to spot the approach of Saracen ships. The ancient whatchtower, called Torre dello Ziro, is a favoured viewpoint for tourists. Before the walk, sample the water tha springs from the unusual drinking fountain “De Cape ‘e Ciucci”. It was built in the 18th century, the two marble heads that adorn it survive to this day.
