Jardim de Juramidam - Protection of the environment and reforestation
Elite Rent-a-Car supports Jardim de Juramidam and contributes to improve the company's ecological impact, as the reforestation will help to offset the carbon emissions of its car fleet.
 
Started in 2008, Jardim de Juramidam constitutes the first step of a larger project leaded by Friends Of Humanity wishes to extend its activities to other natural reserves, thanks to the support of other small and medium sized companies.
 
Jardim de Juramidam is an area of 57 hectares located near the village of Alto Paraiso in the Brazilian Cerrado. Situated in central-western Brazil, this region has unique fauna and flora and one of the richest biodiversities in the world. Despite its unique biodiversity and warnings from organizations such as WWF, a large part of the region has been transformed into pasture and soya fields.

"Farmacia Verde" (Green Pharmacy)

The project Farmacia Verde (Green Pharmacy) promotes the fabrication and use of plant-based medicine elaborated according to local traditional remedies.

Based in the city of Altamira, in the state of Pará, north of Brazil, the Farmacia Verde center is complete with its garden and laboratory. Four people work there full time, producing the medicine.

Farmacia Verde will eventually be funded by the Fundaçao Ipiranga em Belèm, hopefully by summer 2008, but until then Friends of Humanity will be contributing the monthly $900 necessary for operations to run smoothly.

The Village School of Karara´o

Construction of this new school for children and young adults began in October 2003 and was completed in February 2004, on schedule. The work was carried out by two experts in carpentry whose only modern equipment consisted of a chain saw. In 2006 the library was completed, marking the conclusion of the project.

The Village School of Pakaña

In August 2007 was launched the construction of a school in the village of Pakaña on the Xhingu river in Brazil. The school will allow many families in this remote area to have access to education. We also financed the acquisition of a motor boat, which will be used for the transport of teachers and students to the school.

In addition to this educational project we are also trying to resolve a health issue. The region is burdened by the presence of deathly bats that have cost the lives of too many infants and children. We are supplying the local community with some nets to preclude such a tragedy in the future.
